The Queen also uses a regular train each year to start her Christmas break in Sandringham, hop on at King’s Cross, and hop off at King’s Lynn station.
This is all rather economical, but there is also the Royal Train, which is still used occasionally by family members.
It costs several thousand per trip and is often quoted when the royals reveal their annual financial reports as one of the more exuberant expenses.
Examples of trips in 2018 included Prince Charles’ trip from Euston to Port Talbot at £ 20,049 and the Queen and Meghan’s trip to Cheshire which cost £ 29,714.
The royal family also use helicopters to travel around the UK and sometimes even travel between their homes.
