A look at today’s football as the Yellows and Rylands try to recover

WARRINGTON Town and Warrington Rylands will both try to recover from recent defeats this afternoon.

The Yellows make the long journey to Whitby Town with a goal of reclaiming their place in the Northern Premier League Premier Division play-off places.

Last weekend’s 2-1 defeat by South Shields combined with other results means Mark Beesley’s side enter the game in seventh place – two points off the top five.

Whitby was one of the sides to overtake Town after two wins this week.

They won 4-3 at FC United of Manchester on Tuesday night after beating Hyde United 2-1 at the weekend.

Due to the pandemic, this is the Yellows’ first visit to Whitby since October 2019 and they have a good record at the Turnbull Ground – their four trips there have yielded two wins and two draws.

Meanwhile, Rylands are back on home soil after three straight away games and welcome Glossop North End to Gorsey Lane.

Their three-win start to 2022 ended in a 1-0 loss at Kidsgrove Athletic last time out.

The third-place Blues remain firmly in the NPL West Division playoff spots, but with teams around them having games in hand, another blip will keep players like Leek Town, Runcorn Linnets and Clitheroe among them interested .

Saturday’s visitors Glossop, managed by former Warrington Town manager Stuart Mellish, arrive in fine form – their only defeat against leaders Workington in their last 14 games in the league.
