Southern CT Weather: Up To 2 Inches Of Snow On Super Bowl Sunday

SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for southern Connecticut, saying that snow may lead to icy spots on roadways on Super Bowl Sunday.

Initially, anywhere from a dusting to an inch of snow was forecast for southern Connecticut, but the weather service in a Saturday evening update now says “1 to 2 inches of snow” is now expected Sunday.

Snow is expected to move into southern Connecticut after midnight and start falling between 4-6 am and continue into Sunday afternoon.

“On average, we are looking at a 2-inch snowfall for much of the forecast area…There is a chance that some of the precipitation starts as a brief rain/snow mix at the onset, before quickly changing over to all snow ,” the weather service said.

It is possible some areas may see 3 inches of snow, the weather service said.

Tonight: Snow likely, mainly after 4am. Cloudy, with a low around 28. West wind 6 to 8 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Sunday: Snow likely, mainly before 1pm. Cloudy, with a steady temperature around 31. Wind chill values ​​between 20 and 25. North wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17. Wind chill values ​​between 5 and 10. North wind 8 to 13 mph.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 26. Wind chill values ​​between 5 and 15. Northwest wind 10 to 14 mph.

Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 14. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 33.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 23.
