EastEnders actor Letitia Dean pays touching tribute to loss of important family member at British Soap Awards

EastEnders star Letitia Dean shared some devastating news at the British Soap Awards. The actor – who plays Sharon Watts – won an outstanding achievement award at the annual ceremony.

During her acceptance speech she dedicated the gong her father, who tragically died last week, Birmingham Live reports. She told ITV viewers: “I lost my daddy a week ago so this is for him. I hope he is proud.”

Adding: “This is for my daddy and my darling mummy, I hope you’re enjoying your fish and chips.”

Letitia was presented the award by Anita Dobsonm who played her mum on the soap Angie Watts until 1988. The pair hugged as Sharon said she had not seen her “mummy” for a long time.

Anita said: “She has been in 2,000 episodes, she has had 237 “doof-doof’s”, and she has also been landlord of the Queen Vic six times.

“She has had amazing storylines, the death of her son, return from the grave of her father, and her affair with Phil Mitchell which brought in 23.5 million viewers. She is quirky, funny, talented, glamorous, and iconic.”
