Cheshire’s hopes for the NCCA Knockout Trophy came to an end after losing to Cambridgeshire in the quarterfinals.
Will Evans wanted to stay on track to emulate the 2018 class, which was crowned the day’s winner with a thrilling two-round win over Devon.
But they were beaten by four wickets at Burwell & Exning when Cambridgeshire scored their fifth straight win in the National Counties Cricket Association competition that summer.
Evans won the throw and decided the punch, watching his team amass 247.
Opener Sam Perry anchored the innings with a well-made 97 that came down from 113 balls and contained 13 fours and three sixes.
Rob Sehmi sat down at 20 but it took a nice 49 late from Andy Jackson to move Cheshire forward.
Jackson hit a couple of fours and four sixes in his entertaining stroke.
AJ Hancock was the choice of the Cambs attack and won 4:44.

However, Ben Seabrook and Lee Thomason have teamed up to produce a profitable partnership.
The duo improved the score to 196 before Seabrook was fired for an excellent 123 with 13 fours and five maxima.
