Birmingham 2022: How to Get Commonwealth Games Tickets

Sports fans looking to secure tickets to the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham don’t have to wait any longer as the main election begins today.

The Games, which run from July 28th to August 8th, will feature 19 sports and eight parasports as the international competition returns to the UK.

It follows the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, when hosts Australia topped the medal table for the 13th time.

Here’s a round-up of everything you need to know.

How do I get tickets and how much do they cost?

The organizers have set more than a million of the tickets at £ 22 or less, starting at £ 8 for children and £ 15 for adults.

The ballot papers are open until September 30th, 8 p.m.

Those looking to secure tickets to any of the 286 sessions should head over to birmingham2022.com to create a ticket account.

Which venues are used?

The overwhelming majority of the venues existed prior to the decision to award the Games to Birmingham after Durban was deprived of hosting rights in 2017.

The two major investment projects are the refurbishment of the Alexander Stadium, where the athletics will take place, and a brand new water sports center in Sandwell.

Cannock Chase Forest will stage mountain biking, while track cycling in London will take place in the Lee Valley Velopark, built for the 2012 Olympics.

Women’s cricket is played in Edgbaston, while Smithfields – in the city center – plays beach volleyball and three-on-three basketball against the backdrop of the Rotunda building and the Bullring shopping center.

Will capacities be limited due to Covid-19?

No at this stage.

Organizers keep the contingency plans in mind, of course, but Birmingham 2022 board chairman Ian Reid said Tuesday they were confident they could work at full capacity – even if additional controls are required for coronavirus certification.
