Construction of 145 new homes has begun on a Warrington site, signaling the start of Castle Green Homes’ major advance in Cheshire.

The home builder’s new Willow Fields development is part of the Omega Warrington site, the largest mixed-use development in the Northwest.

Castle Green’s 12.1 acre site will deliver two, three and four bedroom homes, including 19 properties, at a discounted market price.

Already active in 10 locations in North Wales and Wirral, this is the first acquisition by the Welsh home builder in the North West since the management buyout of Macbryde Homes late last year; and is an integral part of Castle Green’s ambitious expansion plans to quadruple production over the next five years.

Gwyn Jones, Castle Green CEO, said: “It is an important milestone to finally break the ground at this groundbreaking location. While not our first project in Cheshire – we have already built Port, Beeston and Neston as Macbryde in Ellesmere – the acquisition of a substantial piece of land in Omega, Warrington marks the beginning of our major expansion in the north west of England.

“We have already had a lot of interest from potential buyers at Willow Fields and look forward to doing our part in renewing this part of the old Burtonwood Airbase.”

Castle Green is headquartered in St. Asaph and has already announced that it will be opening a second office in Preston Brook near Warrington later this year to facilitate its expansion in the northwest.

The land acquired by Omega Warrington and Homes England is part of the large-scale regeneration of land that was once part of RAF Burtonwood.

Omega is a £ 1 billion, 575 acre project off Junction 8 of the M62 a 35 acre park.

The Willow Fields development includes public open spaces and a children’s playground.

The first homes will go on sale in July and development is expected to take two and a half years.
