Popular skate park closed for 490 days

A popular skate park is to be closed for 70 weeks – as part of a multi-million dollar renovation of a leisure center.

Congleton Skatepark, near Worrall Street, will close on Monday June 14 as developers move to the leisure center.

The area around the current leisure center will be fenced off while construction of the new £ 10 million facility takes place.

A Cheshire East Council spokesman said: “The renovation of the center is expected to take 70 weeks and will include the installation of two new swimming pools, a thermal suite, a new gym, new changing rooms and a soft play area for children.”

A formal event will be held with the Mayor of Cheshire East and the Mayor of Congleton attending to initiate remediation work.
