Here are the top five stories in Atlanta today:

  1. The trial is underway for Jayden Myrick, who is accused of robbing and killing an Atlanta wedding guest. The alleged murder occurred four years ago and the defendant is testing in his own defense. Myrick was 17 at the time of the event and is currently 22. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  2. Local Walmart pharmacist, T’Rheya Eberhardt has been named Best Technician for Education for American Pharmacists Month. Eberhardt has been a pharmacy technician for 10 years, including working at Walmart #3741 in Atlanta for three. Congratulations are in order! (The Atlanta Voice)
  3. The Atlanta homebuilder PulteGroup has walked away from land deals as demand for new homes wanes. Over the past three months, new orders have declined and cancellations rose. Pulte executives said the US Federal Reserve’s rising mortgage rates, which aim to mitigate inflation, are responsible for the falling decline. (Subscription, The Business Journals)
  4. Police are investigating after a man told them he was robbed and assaulted by three men Monday night. The alleged robbery occurred at a gas station around 9:00 p.m. near Cheshire Bridge Road and Woodland Avenue. No details have been released about the suspect. (Atlanta Patch)
  5. Mariah Carey’s Sandy Springs mansion is still for sale and has even had a price drop of over half a million dollars. The 12,575-square-foot mansion has nine bedrooms and nine bathrooms. Despite the price cut, Carey could still walk away from the metro Atlanta home she purchased in 2021 with a large profit. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
