Cheshire: Trio steals a large amount of money after breaking into the ATM

THREE men stole a large amount of cash after pulling the front of an ATM in Cheshire with rope and a van.

The police have now opened an investigation after the raid on the ATM shortly after 10.30 p.m. on Thursday, April 29th.

The trio arrived in a white van at the Huub store on Manchester Road in Congleton, put the rope around the ATM, and used the van to remove the front of the machine.

The group then stole a large amount of cash and drove off, leaving the badly damaged ATM behind.

All three suspects wore dark clothes and balaclavas, and two of them also wore safety vests.

Officers have since recovered a vehicle they believe was used during the raid.

A 31-year-old man from Congleton was also arrested on suspicion of stealing an ATM.

Inquiries regarding the incident are ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to contact them.

Detective Sergeant George Vlastos said, “The investigation is currently at an early stage and we are pursuing multiple lines of investigation.

“A man has been arrested and is currently being interviewed by detained officers.

“We continue to solicit information from the public and I would like to ask anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with information that could aid our investigation to contact them.
