Covid-19: Consultation event for gyms and indoor fitness centers in Cheshire West

Owners of gyms, pilates and yoga studios, and indoor fitness centers in Cheshire West and Chester can learn more about how to work safely at an online event.

The Cheshire West and Chester Council will host a webinar for the indoor fitness sector on April 22nd at 10:30 a.m. to explain new legal requirements and measures to be taken in the event of a Covid-19 outbreak.

The gyms were allowed to reopen on April 12th. Subject to further relaxation, the indoor fitness classes can be resumed on May 17th.

Topics to be covered include the rules for covering face, collecting customer contact data, social distancing and hygiene, as well as caring for staff such as break rooms or toilets and advice on vehicle sharing.

There will also be information on what to do if an employee tests positive for covid-19 and a toolkit to help the employer manage an outbreak, from employee testing and business contact tracing to self-isolation advice and financial information Support for people who isolate themselves.

Ian Ashworth, Director of Public Health for Cheshire West and Chester Council, said: “It is very positive that Covid-19 infections have reduced to a stage where our main streets have reopened and gyms and indoor fitness Companies can also be reopened.

“We all have to do our part to keep infection rates down and stay as healthy as possible. Staying fit is critical to our health and wellbeing. Our own health and wellbeing provider, Brio Leisure, has learned some valuable hands-on lessons on how to protect employees and customers that will be featured in the webinar as examples of good practice.
