Pictures – Guests at The Ramada in Solihull when it becomes a “quarantine hotel”

People walk back and forth in a makeshift training yard after another well-known Solihull venue was turned into a quarantine hotel almost overnight.

The Ramada Hotel in Solihull is now a facility for travelers flying into the UK from Red List countries.

We reported earlier this week how a Cheshire man described his experience at Ramada Solihull as a “nightmare”.

Rhodri Dafydd, 25, from Cheshire, flew back to Birmingham from Mexico – via Turkey, which is on the government’s red list.

The 25-year-old was hiding in Solihull but was furious about his experience.

He shared photos of lean-looking meals of chicken tikka masala and rice that “didn’t touch the surface”.

He told CheshireLive, “I understand the need to quarantine and stop the virus from spreading and I was fully aware that I was taking any risk in the first place.

“However, I find the service we received here completely unacceptable.”

He added, “The food wasn’t great, I couldn’t sleep at night because of the noise the security people make, and we’re only allowed 20 minutes of fresh air a day.”

Overnight stays and weddings have been canceled at the hotel, which usually has a gym, relaxation center, and a selection of restaurants, including the popular George Restaurant.

The neighboring Hotel St. John’s told BirminghamLive that the quarantine and hotel selection were a matter for the government.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare said it couldn’t comment on certain hotels but said protecting the public was a top priority.

Weddings were in tatters after the Ramada Hotel in Sutton Coldfield emailed couples that bookings were being canceled with immediate effect.
