The city of Cheshire is one of the happiest places in Britain

A town in Cheshire has been named one of the happiest places in Britain.

Northwich was ranked 18th in Rightmove’s Happy at Home Index, according to 2020 results.

In the study, which is already in its ninth year, residents are asked to give their opinion on where they live.

You will then be asked to rate ten happiness factors.

These factors include the friendliness of the neighbors, the good local services and the sense of belonging.

Rightmove data properties expert Tim Bannister said the lockdown has given many people the opportunity to reconnect to their region.

He said, “Our latest research shows that despite all the challenges this year has brought, many people have been able to reconnect with their region and community, which has had a positive effect on their attitudes towards where they live .

“Overall, I think that Lockdown has allowed people to rediscover what is on their doorstep and to spend more time in their area has made people appreciate their surroundings and their communities so much more.

“This year’s study shows a greater appreciation for green spaces and nature, as well as a strong correlation between people who live in coastal and rural areas and people satisfaction where they live.

“Since the lockdown, we’ve had a trend towards more people wanting to live in smaller communities, so it’s very fitting to see the quaint town of St Ives top the list in 2020.

“Obviously, this year wasn’t a happy year for a lot of people. So we wanted to use our report to shed light on just the happiest places and see how the lockdown has changed people’s attitudes towards where they live.”
